3 ways to get noticed on LinkedIn

Struggling to engage on LinkedIn? Today I wanted to post a super short blog about ways you can level up on LinkedIn and start getting noticed more! Those job prospects ain’t going to come without a little hard work from yours truly. So here are my top 3 super simple ideas for you to implement TODAY! Give them a go.

1.    Post a picture!

People LOVE visual content. Often posting a picture will get me 10x more engagement than text only. If we post text only our audience often breeze on by, however with a picture we grab interest and our audience stop to read. I mean look at the popularity of Instagram, need I say more?

I can hear that doubt in your mind, Amanda what do I post on LinkedIn, it’s a professional network! Well here are just a few ideas for you…..

  • At a conference or work event, post a picture with new connections you have met and highlight your favourite part of the event

  • Received a gift from a vendor? Take a sneaky pic and post saying why you love working with the vendor. Not only will the vendor love you, but your network gains by understanding what tools you use and why

  • Have a special event or celebration happening at work? Post a pic of you and your colleagues celebrating. Others love to get an insight into different workplaces and your recruitment team will love you!

My final tip here! Remember pictures with you in them will gain more engagement. People want to get to know the real you so don’t be camera shy!

2.    One up with video Content

OK I know, now you are really shitting yourself. Amanda I don’t even want to post a picture let alone a video! Well news flash people, video is now the one of the most preferred consumption methods of the average human! One third of content consumed on the Internet is in video format! Also LinkedIn video is shared 20 times more than other content! Yes, 20 TIMES! Start leveraging the legend that is video!  

Again I can hear you saying Amanda what the hell would I post? It’s super simple 1. Share what you know. 2. If you are interested in it, I 100% guarantee that someone else will be too. But because I’m such a good lass I will give you a few content ideas anyway……

  • Share your observation of current industry trends

  • Give a quick summary of an event you attended, what did you learn?

  • Interview someone, maybe a mentor, local legend, manager

  • Preview an event you are speaking at

3.    Engage through comments

Now this one may be the easiest of the 3. Make sure you take the time to engage with all the people that engage with your posts. If they have taken the time to write you a comment you should be acknowledging that and writing back!  Not only does this increase engagement and prompt healthy discussion it goes a long way to taking LinkedIn connections from internet to real life! After all you can have a huge amount of connections, however if we don’t have meaningful relationships with them, what’s the point?

 

Whilst my tips are pretty simple I hope they are actionable for you! These are really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to leveling up your LinekdIn game!
